We met again for negotiations today, our final session of the year. Again, the employer failed to respond to our economic proposals from earlier this week.
We had a few wins to note, though! We reached tentative agreements on:
Article 10: The employer agreed not to change per diem work requirements.
Article 11: We agreed on changes to make the job-posting and bidding process more transparent and fairer.
COVID protections: The employer finally agreed to maintain our COVID MOU (memorandum of understanding), which protects pregnant and vulnerable employees. This was an especially important victory.
Tentative agreements do not become final until approved by a vote of the membership, as part of a larger package.
We are still far apart on the priorities that we know members have at the top of mind, including competitive wages, affordable health care, and a safe workplace.
Looking forward, we asked the employer for additional bargaining dates and we mutually agreed to bargain on Jan. 2 and 3. Although it is our legal obligation to continue to bargain, we DO NOT waive any right to strike by doing so.
