Over the weekend, your elected bargaining team met with the employer for additional bargaining sessions. We bargained late until the night on Sunday and returned to the bargaining table bright and early Monday morning. These were productive sessions and yielded some big wins.

For months, Sparrow administrators assured our bargaining team that open enrollment for healthcare benefits would wait until a new contract was agreed upon. On Friday, with virtually no prior notice, our team was told that open enrollment for healthcare would begin on Tuesday, December 5 and that postcards to inform members were already in the mail.

On Thursday, November 9, PECSH/MNA launched a community petition so that patients and their families can voice their support for our negotiations. Nurse and healthcare professionals went door-to-door to educate the community about negotiations issues, such as staffing levels, that can affect the quality of care.
